What about EDM310?
I had not heard much about EDM310 before deciding to take
the class. After speaking to my advisor about all the classes I needed to take
before candidacy, I just decided to take it this semester. However, my advisor
did mention that EDM310 would not be an easy class, and that I would have to do
some work for the class. Dr. Strange then sent many emails before class even
started and I soon realized that this class was going to be very serious.
I am a little fearful that I won’t do well in this class.
This semester I am going to have to work really hard on my time management and
study habits. I also am concerned about the group work and projects, because I
have done Team Based Learning before and it did not go in my favor. However, hopefully the students I will be grouped with will take this class as seriously as I do and there will not be a problem.
It is hard for me to compare EDM310 because it is so
different from any class I have taken before, but I have taken classes that are
mostly computer based and I love them. I like to think that I am tech savvy and
if EDM310 is anything like my other class, which was spent most on the computer, I know I will enjoy it.
I think the most difficult thing for me to do in EDM310 will
be to keep ahead of the game and not get behind on projects. I don’t want to
feel rushed on any assignments, because when I am rushed I do not do as well. I
tend to get stressed out and do very poorly if I start to feel overwhelmed in
school.
Time management will be key on getting a good grade in the
class this semester. The master checklist is a great key to look at and will
keep me in check with what is coming up in the class. Communication with Dr. Strange will also be helpful to get advice on projects and answer any questions I have on any assignments.
The only questions I have for EDM310 is that I’m curious to
what kind of projects we will do in the class, and how they will be beneficial
to becoming a teacher. I suppose that this question will be answered in time,
and Dr. Strange will tell us about each project throughout the semester.
Hi Sarah. I share the same fear of not doing well in EDM310. However, I think it is unfortunate that you seem to have had unpleasant experiences with group work in the past. That is one of the parts of this course that I am looking forward to. I like the support it can provide and the opportunity it gives us to learn from each other. I hope that the group work in EDM310 will work out well for you this semester. Another fear I have is getting behind on work. Thinking about all of the blog posts, activities and projects (along with the intricate details involved in each of them) gives me a little anxiety but like you said, time management is key to a good grade. I wish you well in EDM 310!
